Just picked this baby up yesterday! Was on Kijiji for about 20 minutes before I bought it up – haha. My bolt on princess!

Year: 1998
Make: Plymouth
Model: Neon
Trim: Expresso
Engine: 2.0L DOHC
Transmission: 5 Speed Manual
Body Style: Sport Coupe
Colour: White

Has 191 000 kilometers on it.

No rust on the body and the paint is in great condition! The shifter is extremely sloppy.. but I’ve ordered some Booger Bushings so hopfully that’ll fix that . Also needs a new coil pack (fixing that issue too) other than that, it’s a solid car! (also getting rid of the decals on the side. I’d like to shoot the dealer that put that on!!)

I’ve always wanted a coupe and decided it was time to bite the bullet and buy one!

I’ll be keeping the exterior completly stock. No euro tails here. Lowering it as soon as summer starts. Replacing the head lights with some stealth depos.

…..I have an addiction…..

A Small Update

Just thought I’d come back and explain where the cars at currently..

Clutch got blown out.
Clutch replaced.
Transmission has a huge hole in it.
Car is dead.. for now?

Project Neon Comes To An End!

It’s time for me to put the wrenches down on this project! Not because I’ve lost interest, but because I’ve moved onto something new.

October 27, 2009 the paperwork was finalized and I took ownership of a 2004 Dodge SRT-4. I will start a new log on this car as soon as I make a couple payments down  on the loan.

Project Neon has been sold to a friend of mine who plans on continuing to work on it.

Grillcraft Grill!

Modern Performance has been having small ebay auctions of things they have laying around their warehouse lately and I’ve been lucky enough to score a grillcraft grill! This part is now discontinued by the company and is considered ‘rare’. I picked it up for the great price of $24.00! Can’t get any better than that!

It’s only the lower half of the grill because the upper half was used on Modern’s intense blue project car! This marks the end of my cosmetic additions to the car! =D (other than coilovers, but that could be considered performance :P )

Kirk Long Tube Header

I’ve thrown the whole turbo idea out the window for now. It’s just to much money for right now. So I’ve decided to just finish with the bolt ons this season. I currently have every single bolt on currently avalible from ModernPerformance.com on the car. The last thing I needed was the Kirk Long Tube header! Which is prepared to ship on Monday morning! I also have plans for wrapping it in some DEI header wrap and also wrapping my shift cables with some heat resistant wrap aswell just to be on the safe side!

Anyway, here’s some info about the header:

This header is designed for upper RPM power and will improve your neon’s power output ! Especially if your engine is already modified!
This header is a long tube racing header, with 1.5 inch primaries, and 2.25 inch outlet. Its designed to eliminate your catalytic convertor, and connect the head directly to the exhaust system.

Underdrive Pulley Installed!

Today I had the Underdrive Pulley installed by Budget Muffler. They did a great job got it done within an hour! Shop fees were reasonable paid exactly $106.00 for installation.

The gains from this pulley were awesome! The RPM jump like crazy when you’re on the gas! The acceleration is amazing! I love this pulley. Was definatly worth the money! The stock crank pulley weighs about 8 pounds! This aftermarket pulley only weighed maybe 1 pound… super light!

Next thing to go on will be a new exhaust manifold! I’m not sure if I will be doing the turbo this winter as planned because I’m a little worried about the Megasquirt tuning on the engine. We’ll see. :)

A/C Recharge and Torque Damper installed!

So this morning I installed my torque damper (bobble strut). Not much to say here. Took out the flexable-shock and replaced it with a solid bar with bushings. Engine no longer moves. Job well done.

Also went to Canadian Tire and bought one of their “A/C recharge kits”. I have to say, best $50.00 I’ve ever spent! It’s nice to have ice cold air coming out the vents again!

What’s next? This beautiful UDP I have sitting in my garage. I just need to find a shop that can do it for a resonable price!

SloR/T Fabrications Adjustable Bobble Strut

I got some birthday money today.. well I already spent it..

Bought a new rear bobble strut!

Unorthodox Underdrive Pulley!

So I got paid today… and guess what!!! Modern Performance had a sale on UDPs!!! Since the AF/X one that I bought USED last year was all chewed up I figured I might as well get a brand new one … a better one.

With the Neon getting to be sooo old it’s getting harder and harder to buy parts for it stock and other wise. So I thought I better just buy everything before they stop making it.

Anyway, here’s some information on the Unorthodox UDP..

The differences are as follows:

  • Weight – The Unorthodox is lighter than the MPx pulley by about 3-4 ounces.
  • Design- The Unorthodox has replaceable outer and inner sections that can be replaced, whereas the MPx is a solid disc that is not repairable or replaceable.
  • Strength- The Unorthodox has a stainless steel center hub, and aluminum outer section, whereas the MPx is solid aluminum with a hard anodized coating. Both pullies will increase your cars horsepower, and allow your car to rev faster, choose whichever one you want based on the quality you want, and the budget you have.
  • Replace your stock pulley with the Unorthodox pulley and free up horsepower. Where does the “free” horsepower come from you may ask? Well, the Unorthodox pulley is smaller, and lighter than the factory pulley, which enables accessories to run at a lower speed (which reduces draw on the motor).
  • That was taken from the Modern Performance web site.

    Amp and Subs Installed!

So last night we decided to install the massive 0 guage kit that I had purchased from AudioSavings.com. Now 0 gauge is fun… but a real bitch to install!!

    Pics tomorrow!

    Car Audio!

So I decided that the car needed more sound! Today I purchased a new head unit and some 0 gauge amp wiring. Why 0 gauge? GO BIG OR GO HOME! Anyway, here’s more info on the head unit and pictures!
